How we make money

What it doesn't buy

It doesn't buy a better score. Our rankings follow fixed criteria, with memory, privacy and value weighing heavily. A partner platform that slips on privacy or raises prices without adding features will see its score drop, commission or not. We also list and discuss platforms we don't earn from when they're relevant.

What it does affect

It affects which platforms we can afford to cover in depth. Research takes time, and commissions fund it. We think that's a fair trade as long as we're upfront about it, which is what this page is for.
